The Top 10 Things Engineering School/colleges don't teach

1. There are more than 10 types of capacitors. 
                   
                                    They say how capacitors work, but not where to use which particular capacitor. Just dump the knowledge of books into heads doesn't cost to design the whole hardware. Circuit is not built with one single capacitor, Isn't it ?

2. Theory tells you how a circuit works, not why it does not work.
                               
                      They ignore that its a problem. But there will be only basic problems in circuits such as high noise, break down of circuits, short circuit of any capacitor or resistor fails to work in your design or insufficient power. Re-designing it doesn't take much time for a person who designs the circuit. If you are a real electronic or electrical engineer then analysing the circuit can cost you a few minutes. All go through basics.



3.Not everything works according to the specifications in the operation manual.

                                 
                                                   Because the manual was written by some person who sits before computer and types, then prints it. Its not checked by the technical person. Its a major fault in the system of colleges.
                                              
 
4. Anything practical you learn will be obsolete before you use it, except the complex math, which you will never use. 


                                       The practicals you make in lab or any such are already done, proven and obviously they are out law in the present modernized digital electronics. Take a chance to develop new from the old rather than practicing the old.
 

5. Always try to fix the hardware with software.
                                         
                                           The best example is your computer, when there is a hardware problem! what is the purpose of installing some software to fix it. lol! Circuits are hardware not software. 

 

6. Engineering is like having an 8 a.m. class and a late afternoon lab every day for the rest of your life.

                                                  A daily routine boring college where we don't get a chance to learn new things rather than learn the same old things which are already in books. And the same topic will almost be printed in over 10-20 books, which is again repeated in the class. LOL! 




7. Overtime pay? What overtime pay?

                                   More you work more you get. They say that in software companies if you do over time you will be paid more, is it a call center to give more if we spare time more ??? 



8. Managers, not engineers, rule the world.

                                    Engineers only design the pattern, they rule the internal world of engineers. And the things made are been put into business by some Managers which obviously make a huge turn over on that engineering made.  Best example is iPhone, think over it.



9. If you like junk food, caffeine and all-nighters, go into software. 

                                     A real software job isn't that easy but now a days as many of them get into software there would obviously be a huge profit to make the best and time is always there to develop a software. When it comes to hardware, its not the same thing as software. Software is just written and tested, but real hard come to design a hardware which can run that software. Its true believe this.
